You can't say that Jazz Vocalists are not trying their hardest to get their New out there...out of 11 New Adds To the Jazz 88 Music Library this week, 5 are vocalists! We've got vocal tributes to Miles and Laura Nyro among the bunch, along with new from Eric Alexander, Cory Weeds, David Weiss and more! All of this New and what it introduces to YOU EVERY WEEK are another reason for becoming a listener-contributor to Jazz 88 during the Spring Membership Drive! And when we play this during The New Jazz Thing with Vince Outlaw from 6-8PM PT on Monday, March 18, 2013 is a great time to do it! The full list of New is available after the split

ERIC ALEXANDER – “TOUCHING” (Saxophonist, leading a straight-ahead quartet in

a collection of standards and jazz tunes).

TINE BRUHN & JOHNNY O’NEAL – “NEARNESS” (Female vocalist, backed by

pianist, with sax on 4 tracks, doing the Great American Songbook).

RONDI CHARLESTON – “SIGNS OF LIFE” (Female vocalist, doing straight-ahead

originals and jazz tunes).

GIACOMO GATES – “MILES TONES” (Male vocalist, with another tribute album, this

time doing tunes by Miles Davis).

CLEAVE GUYTON, JR. – “INTRODUCING THE C.J. HEPTET” (Saxophonist/flutist,

doing straight-ahead originals and jazz tunes).

STAN KILLIAN – “EVOKE” (Saxophonist, leading a quintet, doing all straight-ahead

originals).

CORY WEEDS/BILL COON QUARTET – “WITH BENEFITS” (Saxophonist and

guitarist, leading a straight-ahead session of originals, jazz tunes and standards).

MARK WINKLER – “THE LAURA NYRO PROJECT” (Male vocalist, and Jazz Live

alumnus, paying tribute to one of the great songwriters of the 1960’s and 70’s).

DAVID WEISS – “VENTURE INWARD” (Trumpeter, leading a quintet, in a collection

of edgy versions of jazz tunes).

CRAIG WUEPPER – “LEAPS AND BOUNDS” (Drummer, leading an all-star quintet,

in a straight-ahead collection of mostly originals).

RENE YOXON & MARK FERGUSON – “HERE WE GO AGAIN” (Female vocalist

and pianist, doing all originals).
