A great mix of instruments (sax, electric bass, drums, trumpet, flute, voice), familiar names (Douglas, Feinstein, Monheit, Peyroux, Rotondi), and new discoveries (Stephen Anderson, Nicole Mitchell) all being added to the Jazz 88 Music Library this week and debuted on The New Jazz Thing with Vince Outlaw, Monday, April 15, 2013, 6-8 PM PT! The full list is after the split, but, starting at the top, here's a taste of the Stephen Anderson Trio doing "Bye Bye Blackbird"...



STEPHEN ANDERSON TRIO – “BELIEVE” (With saxophonist Joel Frahm doing mostly
straight-ahead originals).

JEFF BERLIN – “LOW STANDARDS” (Trio, led by electric bassist, doing a collection of
straight-ahead jazz tunes).

JAIMEO BROWN – “TRANSCENDENCE” (Drummer, leading a very progressive session, with
many vocal tracks, all originals).

DAVE DOUGLAS QUINTET – “TIME TRAVEL” (Trumpeter, leading a quintet with new
straight-ahead originals).

ELLERY ESKELING – “TRIO NEW YORK II” (Tenor saxophonist, leading a bebop groove
trio, performing a variety of jazz tunes).

MICHAEL FEINSTEIN – “CHANGE OF HEART: THE SONGS OF ANDRE PREVIN”
(Pianist/vocalist, with David Finck playing bass).

BRUCE LOFGREN – “SOUTHWEST PORTALS” (Guitarist, leading a contemporary session of
originals).

NICOLE MITCHELL’S ICE CRYSTAL – “AQUARIUS” (Female flutist, leading a quartet in an
edgy collection of originals).

JANE MONHEIT – “THE HEART OF THE MATTERS” (Female vocalist, with an eclectic mix
of tunes).

MADELEINE PEYROUX – “THE BLUE ROOM” (Female vocalist, with her own unique takes
on an eclectic mix of material).

SHERRI ROBERTS – “LOVELY DAY” (Female vocalist, with piano backing, doing mostly the
Great American Songbook).

JIM ROTONDI AND THE LOOP – “HARD HITTIN’ AT THE BIRD’S EYE” (Trumpeter, with
saxophonist Eric Alexander, in a live straight-ahead recording, mixing originals, standards and
jazz tunes).

TOMASZ STANKO NEW YORK QUARTET – “WISLAWA” (Polish trumpeter, with a double-
disc modern jazz release, doing all originals).

BRIAN TORFF – “LOOK AGAIN” (Bassist, featuring vocalist, Pete McGuinness, doing all
straight-ahead originals).

THISBE VOS – “UNDER YOUR SPELL” (Female vocalist, doing a mix of standards and
originals).

WEST POINT BAND’S JAZZ KNIGHTS – “TURNING POINT” (Swinging big band, from the
U.S.Army).
