 We've got a great list of New music being added to the Jazz 88 Music Library this week including San Diegan's Gilbert Castellanos and Anthony Smith, and, as always, you can check it all our FIRST on The New Jazz Thing with Vince Outlaw, Monday, April 22, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM PT! STEFANO BATTAGLIA TRIO – “SONGWAYS” (Italian pianist, leading a trio of all
original jazz melodies).

THE BRADEN/MICHELS PROJECT – “COME TOGETHER” (Saxophonist and female
vocalist pairing for a collection of standards, jazz tunes and originals).

GILBERT CASTELLANO – “THE FEDERAL PROJECT” (Local trumpeter, with all-
star cast of locals, doing original straight-ahead jazz from the play).

MICHAEL DEASE – “COMING HOME” (Trombonist, leading and all-star quintet, in a
straight-ahead session of originals, standards and jazz tunes).

JEFF DENSON – “SECRET WORLD” (Trumpeter, leading a quartet, with an edgy set
of originals).

JOHN GUNTHER SAFARI TRIO – “SURRENDER” (Reed player, leading a guitar and
rum trio doing all originals with world influences from many sources).

ROBERT HURST – “A PALINDROME” (Bassist/composer, leading an all-star septet,
doing all originals with a highly creative vibe).

CHRISTIAN McBRIDE & INSIDE STRAIGHT – “PEOPLE MUSIC” (Bassist, leading
a quintet, in a straight-ahead collection of originals).

MIKROKOLEKTYW – “ABSENT MINDED” (Trumpet/drum duet, integrating
electronics in a progressive outing).

ANTHONY SMITH VIBES QUARTET – “CONNECTIONS, VOLS. 1 & 2” (Local
pianist, switching to vibes, backed by all-star locals doing a mix of jazz tunes, standards
and originals).

AL THOMPSON, JR. – “CITY MAINSTREAM” (Keyboard player, doing all originals,
mostly straight-ahead, with a couple of contemporary tracks).

MARLENE verPLANCK – “BALLADS…MOSTLY” (Female vocalist, with a
collection of standards, backed by all-star musicians).
