Really excited about 3 large ensemble recordings (Joel Harrison 19, Kim Richmond, Dave Ricard) among the New being added to the Jazz 88 Music Library starting next Tuesday, June 18, 2013. You can get the jump on everyone by checking out their debut on on The New Jazz Thing @Jazz88, Monday 6-8PM PT, June 17, 2013. The full list is after the split, but here's a funky little taste from San Diego's own Pocket and their new disc "Resonance"...



KENNY BARRON – “& THE BRAZILIAN KNIGHTS” (Pianist, leading an ensemble of Brazilian musicians, in a straight-ahead session, with Brazilian undertones).

JAMIE BREIWICK – “SPIRITS” (Pianoless quartet, with a progressive, eclectic mix).

DUPREE – “NUESTRO CAMINO” (Organ trio, with a collection of funky, straightahead versions of originals, jazz tunes and standards).

MICHAEL HACKETT – “NEW POINT OF VIEW” (Trumpeter, leading a straightahead quintet, in a collection of mostly originals).

JOEL HARRISON 19 – “INFINITE POSSIBILITY” (Guitarist, leading a progressive big band).

ALAN JONES & FRANCOIS THEBERGE – “ANOTHER VIEW” (Very edgy big band vocal recording).

CANDYE KANE – “COMING OUT SWINGING” (Local favorite, with her typical mix of swing, blues, jump, boogie and Texas swing).

EMRAH KOTAN – “THE NEW ANATOLIAN EXPERIENCE” (Turkish pianist, leading a variety of ensembles, doing straight-ahead, mostly originals).

BOB MOVER – “MY HEART TELLS ME” (Saxophonist/vocalist, performing a straight-ahead mix of standards, jazz tunes and originals).

POCKET – “RESONANCE” (Local group, doing contemporary tunes.  Extremely electric guitar deems it Nights Only).

KIM RICHMOND CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA – “ARTISTRY-A TRIBUTE TO STAN KENTON” (Big band tribute to the legendary leader).

DAVID RICARD BIG BAND – “HEY, I KNOW THIS SONG!, VOL.1” (Creative big band treatments of classical melodies).

CHUCHO VALDES & THE AFRO-CUBAN MESSENGERS – “BORDER-FREE”  (Straight-ahead grooves, with Latin undertones).
