The wide breadth of compositions (standards, originals, contemporary, chamber), ensembles (duos, trio, large ensembles), instrumentation (there's an oud and pocket trumpet in there) and more in the current state of Jazz is represented in the Adds to the Jazz 88 Music Library for October 7, 2013. CHERYL BENTYNE AND MARK WINKLER – “WEST COAST COOL” (2 vocalist, singing as a duo and individually, doing some classic tunes).





SAMUEL BLASER – “A MIRROR TO MACHAUT” (Swiss trombonist, leading quintet of all originals that combine renaissance and baroque music, with avant-garde improvisation).




CHAISE LOUNGE – “DOT-DOT-DOT” (A mostly vocal album, featuring singer Marilyn Older, with a mix of originals and some standards).



ADRIAN CUNNINGHAM - “PROFESSOR CUNNINGHAM & HIS OLD SCHOOL” (Male vocalist/pianist, doing New Orleans and jump style tunes).



E.J. DECKER – “A JOB OF WORK” (Male vocalist, doing mostly standards).


JOEY DeFRANCESCO – “ONE FOR RUDY” (Organist, leading a trio, in straight-ahead standards and jazz tunes).



HARRIS EISENSTADT – “GOLDEN STATE” (Canadian drummer, blending jazz and ultra modern chamber styles.  Recorded in San Diego, featuring local bassist Mark Dresser).




GERRY GIBBS – “THRASHER DREAM TRIO” (Drummer, with Kenny Barron and Ron Carter, doing a straight-ahead mix of some great tunes).



GORDON GRDINA – “NO DIFFERENCE” (Vancouver guitarist, featuring and eclectic mix of all originals).




DIANE HUBKA – “WEST COAST STRINGS” (Female vocalist, backed by a variety of guitarists [including herself], doing a collection of standards and jazz tunes).


KNEEBODY – “THE LINE” (Extremely progressive contemporary grooves).




CAROL MORGAN – “RETROACTIVE” (Female trumpeter, leading a variety of ensembles in a mixed bag of tunes).




GINETTA M. – “STANDARDS” (Female pocket trumpeter/vocalist, with a straight-ahead collection of…standards).




BILL O’CONNELL + THE LATIN JAZZ ALL-STARS – “ZOCALO” (Pianist, leading a sextet, performing originals, jazz tunes and standards).


“THE CHRIS PARKER TRIO” (Drummer, leading the trio, in a straight-ahead mix of tunes).


RICK VANMATRE – “LINES ABOVE” (Saxophonist, leading a quartet/quintet, stretching out on straight-ahead originals).
