JOHN CLAYTON – “PARLOR SERIES” (Bassist, accompanying his son, pianist John, with a straight-ahead collection of standards and others).
THE DePAUL UNIVERSITY JAZZ ENSEMBLE WITH JEFF HAMILTON – “…SALUTES WOODY HERMAN” (New arrangements of Woody’s classics).
THE ELEC TET – “SHINY METAL OBJECTS” (Collective sextet with a program that’s branded in fusion/contemporary style).
PHIL FEST – “PROJECTO B.F.C.” (Guitar playing son of the late pianist Manfredo Fest, playing Latin grooves).
CURTIS HASSELBRING – “NUMBER STATIONS” (New York-based trombonist/guitarist with a progressive date that combines shortwave radio broadcasts from the cold war with propulsive grooves and ambient spaciousness).
JACQUES LESURE – “WHEN SHE SMILES” (Guitarist, doing a straight-ahead collection of standards, jazz tunes and originals).
ADRIANNA MARIE AND HER GROOVECUTTERS – “DOUBLE CROSSING BLUES” (Female vocalist, doing jump-style versions of a wide variety of songs).
WIDE HIVE PLAYERS – “TURNSTYLE” (Fusion record label group featuring Calvin Keys, and pretty much everyone that’s on the “Electric Keys” album. All originals).
WYNTON MARSALIS – “THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF WYNTON MARSALIS” (Trumpeter, doing spiritual tunes, arranged for everything from solo voice to instrumentals to choir).
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS ONE O’CLOCK LAB BAND – “LAB 2013” (Annual release by one of the great college programs in the country).
GARY SMULYAN – “BELLA NAPOLI” (Jazzy versions of Italian songs, featuring some vocals by Dominic Chianese, who played Uncle Junior on “The Sopranos”).
SOS – “LOOKING FOR THE NEXT ONE” (Collective Avant-jazz trio/quartet with a two disc compilation of rare and unissued sessions and live recordings from the 70’s).
STRANAHAN / ZALESKI / ROSATO – “LIMITLESS” (Piano trio, doing all straight-ahead band originals).
