In the new adds to the Jazz 88 Music Library this week we've got way-varying vocal projects (old standards: Deborah Shulman sings Bobby Troup, Jay Clayton sings Harry Warren, Laura Ainsworth; new standards: The Jost Project jazz versions of Rock tunes; contemporary: George Duke), along with Brazilian (Paquito d'Rivera), Bass/Piano duo (Avishai Cohen), Progressive (Albert "Tootie" Heath with Ethan Iverson of The Bad Plus, David Chestky's latest), and MORE! You can check out their radio debut on The New Jazz Thing @Jazz88 with Vince Outlaw, Monday 6-8 PM PT, August 5, 2013! LAURA AINSWORTH – “NECESSARY EVIL” (Female vocalist, swinging familiar and obscure standards).


DAVID CHESKY – “JAZZ IN THE NEW HARMONIC” (Pianist, leading a quintet, in a very edgy collection of originals).


JAY CLAYTON – “HARRY WHO?” (Female vocalist, singing the Harry Warren songbook).


AVISHAI COHEN – “DUENDE” (Bassist, in a straight-ahead duet recording with pianist Nitai Hershkovits).


RICK CUTLER – “FROM THE SILENCE” (Pianist, in a solo outing of originals).


MARKO DJORDJEVIC & SVETI – “SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL” (Serbian drummer, leading a trio/quartet, doing straight-ahead originals, with some progressive tracks).


GEORGE DUKE – “DREAMWEAVER” (Keyboardist/vocalist, in a mixed bag of contemporary tracks, mostly vocal).


NANCY HARMS – “DREAMS IN APARTMENT” (Female vocalist, mixing standards and originals).


ALBERT HEATH – “TOOTIE’S TEMPO” (Drummer, leading a trio that features Bad Plus pianist Ethan Iverson, in a collection of straight-ahead standards, jazz tunes and originals).


THE JOST PROJECT – “CAN’T FIND MY WAY HOME” (Singer, who also plays harmonica and guitar, doing jazz versions of rock tunes).


PAQUITO d’RIVERA – “SONG FOR MAURA” (Playing his saxophone and clarinet, leading a quartet, doing straight-ahead versions of Brazilian tunes).


DEBORAH SHULMAN & THE TED HOWE TRIO – “GET YOUR KICKS” (Female vocalist, singing the Bobby Troup songbook).
