The 2/3/14 Adds to the Jazz 88 Music Library, feature some of the cream of the Jazz crop, including George Cables, Bob Dorough, Vincent Herring, and Rufus Reid, along with those on the ascend including Jeremy Pelt, Helen Sung, Catherine Russell, Cory Weeds, and Ben Wolfe. And there are even more that we will be discoverying aNew! You can hear at least a sampling of these debut on The New Jazz Thing @Jazz88 with Vince Outlaw, Monday, February 3, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM PT.

JEREMY PELT – “FACE FORWARD, JEREMY” (Trumpeter, in a very edgy session of originals, with some vocal tracks).


RUFUS REID“QUIET PRIDE” (Bassist, leading a big band, in a tribute to Civil Rights activist Elizabeth Catlett).




PETE ROBBINS – “PYRAMID” (Saxophonist, leading a quartet in adventurous originals and some rock tunes).



ALFREDO RODRIGUEZ – “THE INVASION PARADE” (Pianist, leading an edgy Latin session, with guests Esperanza Spalding and Pedrito Martinez).




CATHERINE RUSSELL – “BRING IT BACK” (Female vocalist, paying tribute to her father, Luis Russell, and some of the songs he died with Louis Armstrong).




JOHN STETCH“OFF WITH THE CUFFS” (Solo piano improvisations on music by Mozart, Bach and Shostakovich, with one original).


HELEN SUNG – “ANTHEM FOR A NEW DAY” (Pianist, backed by some all-stars, with a collection of originals and jazz tunes).




CORY WEEDS“LET’S GO!” (Tenor saxophonist, leading a quintet, doing straight-ahead originals and standards).
