Fantastic batch of New discs being added to the Jazz 88 Music Library the week of May 19, 2014, including JD Allen's "Bloom" (played on recent Jazz Live guest Lisa Hilton's "Kaleidoscope"), the latest from Grammy award winner Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band ("Life In The Bubble"), and Jazz Live Alum Louis Hayes release "Return of the Jazz Communicators". JD ALLEN – “BLOOM” ‘(Saxophonist, leading a very edgy session of originals and standards in a quartet setting).


JERRY BERGONZI – “INTERSECTING LINES” (Saxophonist, leading a pianoless quartet in a very edgy collection of originals by him and bandmate, saxophonist Dick Oatts).


JEFF COLELLA / PUTTER SMITH – “LOTUS BLOSSOM” (Pianist and bassist collaborating on a collection of straight-ahead originals, jazz tunes and standards).


MICHAEL FIORINO – “ENSEMBLE 456” (Guitarist, leading a septet, performing straight-ahead mostly originals, with vocalist Gingi Lahera singing a Suzanne Vega tune).


FO/MO/DEEP – “THE GROOVY GOODNESS” (Various sized ensembles, doing a collection of contemporary grooves).


GORDON GOODWIN’S BIG PHAT BAND – “LIFE IN THE BUBBLE” (Nice big band grooves, with a couple of contemporary charts).


LOUIS HAYES – “RETURN OF THE JAZZ COMMUNICATORS” (Drummer, leading a quintet, with a straight-ahead variety, recorded live at Smoke).


MIMI JONES – “BALANCE” (Bassist/vocalist doing a mix of straight-ahead instrumental and vocal tracks).


PETER LERNER – “CONTINUATION” (Guitarist, leading a variety of ensemble, with mostly straight-ahead originals).


MARIANNE MATHENY-KATZ – “SOMEWHERE IN PARADISE” (Vocalist, with a nice mix of jazz tunes and standards).


MIKE POPE – “COLD TRUTH-WARM HEART” (Bassist, leading mostly a sextet, in a collection of straight-ahead originals).


ABIGAIL RICCARDS – “EVERY LITTLE STAR” (Vocalist, singing a straight-ahead collection of tunes, and a duet with Jane Monheit on a Joni Mitchell song).


BOBBY SELVAGGIO – “SHORT STORIES” (Alto saxophonist, leading a quartet, with straight-ahead originals).


DOC STEWART – “COD BLUE!” (Nice big band recording of originals and standards).


CAMILLE THURMAN – “ORIGINS” (Saxophonist/vocalist, with a mix of instrumentals and vocals. Mostly her compositions).


SHIRAZETTE TINNIN – “HUMILITY: PURITY OF MY SOUL” (Drummer, leading a variety of ensembles, doing mostly her originals).


“TRILOGY” (Guitarist Bill Coon, bassist Jodi Proznick and pianist Miles Black, doing mostly straight-ahead originals).


PAUL TYNAN / AARON LINGTON – “BICOASTAL COLLECTIVE: CHAPTER FOUR” (Trumpeter and baritone sax player, leading an organ combo, performing straight-ahead originals).
