San Diego Symphony Winter Pops

Winter Pops features "Music of the Emerald Isle" on Wednesday March 17. The Brian Baynes Band, Siobhán O'Brien, and the Malone Academy of Irish Dance present Irish tunes, Celtic melodies and traditional dance. ArtPower at The Loft, UCSD, is using Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker as stylistic references for Gretchen Parlato which is, oddly enough, completely acceptable since they nail the finish with "...she has pushed boundaries [sic?] of the traditional role of a jazz singer." La Jolla Playhouse

The La Jolla Playhouse presents "John Leguizamo Diary of a Madman" through March 14. In Leguizamo's trademark live performance style, this piece explodes with energy taking audiences on a non-stop fever-pitch adventure, heating up the stage with vivid accounts of where he's been and the colorful characters who've shaped different facets of his life. The Mingei International Museum displays enamel vessels created by the preeminent June Schwarcz until March 21. Also on display, "Fisch Out Of Water: Sea Creatures of Arline Fisch."
