Thanks for your patience during this time...and now back to the business at hand.|
As you may have noticed our stream is down. We are experiencing technical difficulties. We are working on the solution and will hopefully be up and running soon. Thanks for your patience. Tuesday, 9am

The flugelhorn can sound really nice and one of the most notable practitioners of the instrument has passed away. Read this article for more.
The last few week's have provided major blows for Jazz. We lost one of our very own here in San Diego (Daniel Jackson) but also Gerald Wilson and Joe Sample. These men were integral to the art form as composers and arrangers. Their trumpet and piano, respectively, lent to the honest voice of jazz music. For Gerald, it began in the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra in 1939 when he replaced the star trumpeter in the group at the time (Sy Oliver). Joe's contribution started in hard bop and grew into many different styles of playing. Both men led bands and forged new roads. Their music and jazz history will preserve forever.

Daniel Jackson was a first rate composer, saxophonist, pianist, educator and mentor. His passion for the music and the energy it creates was unmatched. Born in La Jolla and graduated from San Diego High School, he was the epitome of San Diego Jazz. A staple. He will be cherished always. More Resources and Remembrances on the Jazz 88 Blog...

In San Diego County, 462,000 people live in poverty and face “food insecurity” which means that little or no food is available at home and they often will not know where they will get their next meal. With that being said, the mission of the San Diego Blues Festival is to provide great blues music at an affordable price and raise money to support the battle against hunger in our community.
