JOEL BEHRMAN – “STEPPIN BACK” ~ Independent
(Trumpeter and mainstay on the Bay Area jazz scene with his debut release. Leading a sextet, the date showcases straight-ahead originals mixed with a broad swath of material from Armstrong to Ellington to Joe Henderson).
HAN BENNINK TRIO – “BENNINK & CO.” ~ ILK Music
Legendary Dutch “snare” drummer, (Percussive Profiles interviewee), with his European trio performing improvisational tunes with a broad spectre of qualities).
DAVID BIXLER – “THE NEAREST EXIT MAY BE INSIDE YOUR HEAD” ~Zoho
(Saxophonist, classical and jazz composer and arranger. Leading an octet, the collection includes all originals with the tunes covering a wide coat of jazz colors).
CLAYTON BROTHERS – “THE GATHERING” ~Artist Share
(The Clayton Bros. and the latest project with their familiar sound, this time around though the ensemble extends outside the family with the additions of Wycliffe Gordon and Stefon Harris).

GREG DUNCAN – “CHICAGO, BARCELONA CONNECTIONS” ~New Origins
(Freelance trumpeter/flugelhorn player based in Chicago, leads a quintet doing various contemporary straight-ahead jazz that grooves with a mixture of blues, swing and flamenco jazz).

GRASS ROOTS – “GRASS ROOTS” ~AUM Fidelity
(Collective quartet featuring some of New York’s well respected composers/improvisers. This is their debut release that consists of all original progressive tunes).
CHAD McCULLOUGH & BRAM WEIJTERS – “URBAN NIGHTINGALE” ~ Origin
(Seattle-based trumpeter and pianist together with a quartet setting doing all collective originals of melodic melodies and harmonizing compositions).
BILL McHENRY – “LA PEUR DU VIDE” - (means fear of the void, or emptiness)
(Saxophonist with a live-recorded session at the Village Vanguard, NY. Leading a quartet, McHenry wrote all compositions specifically for this show. Most tunes are a bit on the edgy side).
WINARD HARPER – “COEXIST” ~ Jazz Legacy
(Drummer and percussionist, with his band Jeli (another name for griot) doing interpretations of some classic hard bop tunes along with a few originals too).
TAKUYA KURODA SEXTET – “SIX ACES” ~ Independent
(Young Japanese trumpeter residing in New York, with his 3rd album as leader. The date follows-up to a documentary short called A Day In The Life of Kuroda. All cuts are soulful in sound and all composed by Kuroda).
TODD MARCUS – “INHERITANCE” ~Hipnotic
(Baltimore-based clarinetist, composer and bandleader with his second release. This date features two different quartets with special guest Don Byron, and explores and pays tribute to Egyptian-American heritage. Jazz harmonies flavored with Middle Eastern accents).

PANCHO MOLINA / ELIAS MEISTER – “OPEN FOR BUSINESS” ~ EMPM
(Chilean drummer and German guitarist deliver their debut album showcasing tunes that fuse modern jazz, rock and Latin influences).
SOUTH FLORIDA JAZZ ORCHESTRA – “TRUMPET SUMMIT” ~ Mama
(University orchestra under the direction of Chuck Bergeron. Features a number of trumpet soloists).
DAVID VIRELLES – “CONTINUUM ~ PI
(Pianist led session and collaborative effort inspired by Cuban folklore, specifically Afro-Cuban ritual practices; all originals).
CARRIE WICKS – “BARELY THERE” ~OA2
(Vocalist with her sophomore release, backed by some veteran musicians doing originals, standards, and a variety of jazz tunes).
