originals that combines a mix of contemporary, jazz-fusion, post-bop, and a little bit of
CHARLES LLOYD / JASON MORAN – “HAGAR’S SONG” ~ ECM
(Saxophone/flutist with an interactive duo recording with pianist Jason Moran. Album
features selections especially dear to Lloyd ranging from Strayhorn, Ellington, G.
Gershwin and Billie Holliday. This release helps mark Lloyds 75th birthday on March
ROB MAZUREK OCTET – “SKULL SESSIONS” ~ Cuneiform
(A force in the Chicago inventive sound scene, this cornetist/composer leads a newly
minted octet doing a set of all original Avant-jazz and modern creative tunes. This
project came about when the “We Want Miles” exhibition in Sao Paulo requested that
Mazurek devise a presentation related to his deep affinity for the music of Miles Davis.
BLAKE MEISTER – “SETAGON” ~ Inner Circle Music
(Rising star in the D.C. jazz scene, the bassist rolls out his debut release of fresh straight-
ENRICO RAVA – “RAVA ON THE DANCE FLOOR” ~ ECM
(Italian trumpeter doing a tribute to the late King of pop, Michael Jackson. Session was
recorded live at the Rome Auditorium with the 11-piece Parco della Musica Jazz Lab.

(Alto & soprano saxophonist premiering 10 straight-ahead compositions that were
inspired by works of art and recent life experiences.
