Among the adds to the Jazz 88 Music Library this week are the latest from stalwarts Eliane Elias and Wallace Roney, in addition to lots of new names. You can hear all of the New on The New Jazz Thing @Jazz88 this Monday, May 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM PT! The full list of the New is after the split, but here's Eliane Elias introducing her new Chet Baker tribute album "I Thought About You"...

JD ALLEN – “GRACE” (Saxophonist, leading a very edgy session, in a quartet with Eldar Djangirov playing piano. All originals).

BLUE CRANES – “SWIM” (Progressive collective quintet out of Portland, Oregon doing all originals of modern/post-jazz improvisations).

ELIANE ELIAS – “I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU” (Brazilian vocalist/pianist, paying tribute to Chet Baker, in an all vocal album of standards).

KEN FOWER/BEHN GILLECE – “TOP SHELF” (Another great, straight-ahead outing by the saxophonist/vibraphonist leaders. A sextet doing all originals).

AMOS GARRETT JAZZ TRIO – “JAZZBLUES” (2 guitars and a bass, doing straight-ahead standards and jazz tunes with a couple of vocal tracks).

NOAH HAIDU – “MOMENTUM” (Pianist, leading a straight-ahead trio in originals, jazz tunes and standards).

KROWN/WASHINGTON/BATISTE – “SOUL UNDERSTANDING” (Organist, joined by Walter Wolfman Washington, in a contemporary set of originals, with many vocal tracks).

DIANE MARINO – “LOADS OF LOVE” (Another Houston Person production of a female vocalist, doing straight-ahead standards).

SHARP RADWAY – “HYMNS AND THINGS” (Pianist, leading an all-star band, in a straight-ahead collection of originals and religious songs).

WALLACE RONEY – “UNDERSTANDING” (Trumpeter, leading a quintet, in a straight-ahead, but very edgy collection of Jazz tunes).

SAO PAULO UNDERGROUND – “BEIJA FLORS VELHO E SUJO” (Collective project led by cornet player Rob Mazurek out of the Chicago avant garde jazz scene.  A progressive power trio and post-modern orchestra rolled into one doing all originals).

SASHA’S BLOC – “MELANCHOLY” (Straight-ahead vocal album).

LAUREN WHITE – “MEANT TO BE” (Female vocalist, doing straight-ahead standards and jazz tunes).
