Lots of contemporary, groovy, world-ly Jazz sounds in the 2013-9-30 Adds to the Jazz 88 Music Library this week, in addition to the latest releases from Jazz Live San Diego alum Frank Potenza, Phil Woods, Randy Brecker, and Dr. Lonnie Smith to name just a FEW of the NEW! GEORGE BOUCHARD GROUP – “LISTEN TO YOUR DREAMS” (Sax player, leading a quintet, doing a live recordings of all straight-ahead originals).




RANDY BRECKER – “THE BRECKER BROTHERS BAND REUNION” (Trumpeter, leading a mixed bag session of contemporary, straight-ahead, spoken word and others).




BOB DeVOS – “SHADOW BOX” (Guitarist, leading a trio, with saxophonist Ralph Bowen guesting on 5 tracks, doing straight-ahead originals, standards and jazz tunes).


LISA ENGELKEN – “LITTLE WARRIOR” (Female vocalist, doing a straight-ahead mix of originals, jazz tunes, new and old standards).




MITCH FROHMAN LATIN JAZZ QUARTET – “TO DADDY WITH LOVE” (Saxophonist from the Bronx Horns, doing some great Latin-flavored jazz).




JEFF KUNKEL – “MEU CORACAO BRASILEIRO” (All vocal album of Brazilian style originals).


SUE MASKALERIS – “BRING NOTHING BUT YOUR HEART” (Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist, doing Latin-flavored vocals, with some great guest stars).


BILL MAYS INVENTIONS TRIO – “LIFE’S A MOVIE” (Pianist, with trumpeter Marvin Stamm and cellist Alisa Horn, doing straight-ahead versions of familiar tunes and originals).


NON STOP – “TROPICAL REFLECTIONS” (Contemporary Latin grooves, all band originals).


FRANK POTENZA – “FOR JOE” (Guitarist, paying tribute to Joe Pass, with Joe’s group).




ED REED – “I’M A SHY GUY” (Male vocalist, paying tribute to Nat King Cole).




DIEGO RIVERA – “THE CONTENDER” (Saxophonist, leading mostly a quintet [some tracks have guest artists], doing straight-ahead originals, with a couple of covers).


DR. LONNIE SMITH OCTET – “IN THE BEGINNING, VOLUMES 1 & 2” (Organist, re-doing some of his earlier material in new versions).




PHIL WOODS & THE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA – “NEW CELEBRATION” (Altoist, swinging with a big band).
