With the debut, self-titled release by saxophonist Charlie Arbelaez and the latest collaboration of guitarist Peter Sprague and vocalist / percussionist Leonard Patton, San Diego Jazz has much to celebrate and lead the list of new releases to the Jazz 88 Music Library the week of August 3, 2015.  Their new releases and all the other great new jazz music will be featured by all your favorite Jazz 88.3 hosts in the weeks to come! CHARLIE ARBELAEZ - “CHARLIE ARBELAEZ” (San Diego saxophonist, composer, bandleader with his debut recording of familar and not-so, hard bop and not-so standards.)


DEE DEE BRIDGEWATER – “DEE DEE’S FEATHER’S” (Singer, performing with Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, with sounds of The Big Easy).


FRANK CATALANO / JIMMY CHAMBERLIN – “GOD’S GONNA CUT YOU DOWN” (Saxophonist/drummer together with a quintet doing all original heavy sounding B3 grooves).

AMIR ELSAFFAR – “CRISIS” (Trumpeter/Doris Duke Artist winner with a progressive suite of originals that reflect on the recent history of Iraq and the Middle East).

 

 

MICHAEL FIORINO / ENSEMBLE 456 – “CRAYON SKETCHES” (Bassist, leading a septet, performing straight-ahead originals).


PETER SPRAGUE / LEONARD PATTON – “DREAM WALKIN’” (Guitarist and vocalist, in a collection of new standards and Brazilian tunes).


MARK WINKLER – “JAZZ AND OTHER FOUR LETTER WORDS” (Vocalist, with a straight-ahead variety of tunes).
