Jazz 88.3 celebrates New Jazz Music WEEKLY with the addition of new Jazz releases into the Jazz 88.3 Music Library...and the week of April 6, 2015 is no different with new music from some of the most recognizable names in Jazz including Cohen, Coryell, Elias, Gadd, Mabern, and Sanborn. We've also got the new release from Nhojj who will be performing with San Diego's Peter Sprague for Jazz Against Malaria (JAM) 2015, Sunday, April 26 at 4pm. You can check out the debut of all the new releases each week on The New Jazz Thing with Vince Outlaw, Monday evenings 6-8pm PT and then your favorite Jazz 88.3 Hosts will be adding them to their playlists for YOU to enjoy and learn!

  • Joe: Gypsy jazz with a Latin American feel.

ANAT COHEN – “LUMINOSA”

  • Joe: Multi-instrumentalist, performing straight-ahead grooves, with a Brazilian vibe.

LARRY CORYELL – “HEAVY FEEL” 

  • Joe: Guitarist, leading a quartet, in a very edgy, electric session.

DAVE HILL – “NEW WORLD”

  • Joe: Guitarist, performing contemporary grooves.

ELIANE ELIAS – “MADE IN BRAZIL”

  • Joe: Vocalist/pianist, honoring songs from her native land.

STEVE GADD BAND – “70 STRONG”

  • Joe: Drummer, leading an eclectic session, featuring mostly contemporary grooves.

MARK LITTLE – “SUITE MOTHER”

  • Joe: Pianist, leading quintet, performing his own straight-ahead originals.

JOE LOVANO & DAVE DOUGLAS – “SOUND PRINTS”

  • Joe: Saxophonist and trumpeter, leading quintet, recorded live at The Monterey Jazz Festival.

HAROLD MABERN – “AFRO BLUE”

Joe: Pianist, with featured vocalists Gregory Porter, Norah Jones, Jane Monheit and Kurt Elling, doing a variety of straight-ahead tunes.


NHOJJ – “MADE TO LOVE HIM”

  • Joe: Male vocalist, who is coming to town, performing a variety of material.

HAILEY NISWANGER – “PDX SOUL”

  • Joe: Saxophonist, performing contemporary grooves on this recording.

DAVID SANBORN – “TIME AND THE RIVER”

  • Joe: Contemporary grooves, from a master of the style, with 2 good vocal tracks.

TIM WARFIELD – “SPHERICAL”

  • Joe: Saxophonist, leading an all-star quintet, in tribute to Thelonious Monk.
