    • Erena Terakubo was born in Sapporo, Japan in 1992. She began playing the alto saxophone at the age of nine. Between the ages of 10 and 15, she participated in the Sapporo Junior Jazz Orchestra, where she had the opportunity to have jazz clinics of famous jazz musicians including Herbie Hancock, and Tiger Okoshi. Erena later attended the Berklee 5-week summer program where she was rewarded a full tuition scholarship, and was selected for the Berklee Summer Jazz Workshop, studying with Terri Lyne Carrington.
    • In 2010, she recorded her first album, North Bird, with Kenny Barron, Christian McBride, Lee Pearson, and Peter Bernstein. The album was released in Japan by Japanese major record label King, reached #1 on the Japanese jazz charts, and was awarded Swing Journal’s Gold Disc.

http://www.jazzcorner.com/news/display.php?news=7152
The impressionistic modern jazz guitarist from Bulgaria (now based in San Francisco, CA) releases his 7th album as a leader this month!
The new compositions and sonic textures explored here, catalog the evolution of this award winning group over the last decade, and present a sound and style that is completely unique and truly identifiable with the quartet.

01:08 STACEY KENT – “TENDERLY” (Female vocalist, performing mostly The Great American Songbook, in a mostly ballad style).
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/jan/10/stacey-kent-tenderly-review-roberto-menescal-jazz
It’s a collaboration with the veteran Brazilian guitarist-composer-producer Roberto Menescal, who, it turns out, knows this repertoire intimately. With just two other musicians - Jim Tomlinson, on tenor saxophone and flute, and bassist Jeremy Brown
Deceptively simple, meticulously presented, each of the 12 tracks is a little gem. Kent’s soft, light voice is as persuasive as ever, and the playing is, of course, immaculate.

01:12 RUSS NOLAN – “SANCTUARY FROM THE ORDINARY”  (Saxophonist, leading a quartet, performing mostly originals, live).
