- "Friday, June 12, brings a California debut by the Quebec-based Marianne Trudel Trifolia trio, featuring Marianne Trudel on piano, accordion, and voice; Étienne Lafrance on bass; and Patrick Graham on percussion. Trudel has been called “the hottest young pianist on the Montréal jazz scene” by Canada’s The Globe and Mail, having been frequently featured on the city’s international jazz festival, one of the world’s most prestigious jazz events. Her group Trifolia features original compositions that combine the influences of jazz, romantic music, and global rhythms, including the rich folk heritage of Quebec. The trio’s album Le Refuge was the winner of the Prix Opus 2012–2013 for jazz CD of the year. The Ottawa Citizen wrote, “If Trudel’s not one to follow the more usual jazz-tune structures to the letter, her way of doing things is remarkably accessible."
- Jazz 88 Music Directors: Drummer, with special guests, leading a mostly progressive session.
