Jazz Live- A Celebration of Tadd Dameron

February is Black History Month and Jazz Live will be celebrating one of the architects of modern jazz composition and orchestration, Tadd Dameron. The concert will be on February 21st at 8pm and it will feature saxophonist and the world's foremost expert on Tadd Dameron, Paul Combs. His quintet along with special guest, pianist Bill Cunliffe will be playing Tadd's compositions all night long for this very special evening of music. If you are a valid Jazz 88 member you can reserve up to 2 free tickets in the Speakeasy. For the general public you can purchase tickets for $10 by calling 619-388-3301. The parking pass needs to be printed and displayed.

New Year's Eve Across America- A Live Special Event

It's been another great year of music and we can't think of a better way to end it than with a live concert to welcome in the new year. Join us on TONIGHT at 8PM (pacific) for a special live program. Tim Pinch and Inside Jazz, in association with KSDS-FM presents "New Year's Eve Across America." It will feature some of the greatest jazz musicians around today including Bob McChesney, Doug Webb, Brandon Fields, Scott Whitfield Calbria Foti, Steve Hufsteter, Carl Saunders and other special guests.

What a terrific way to kick off 2017's Jazz Live season. Acclaimed bassist and composer Mark Dresser will be here at City College TONIGHT at 8pm bringing a terrific quintet with him. Nicole Mitchell on flute, Michael Dessen on trombone, Kjell Nordesen on drums and San Diego's very own, Joshua White on piano. Mark will be featuring compositions off of his new release, "Sedimental You." If you are part of the general public and would like to purchase tickets you can all 619-388-3301. In any case, please use the parking pass if/when you arrive for the show.
The Inaugural San Diego Blues Caravan- Saturday, March 11!

The first-ever KSDS San Diego Blues Club Caravan will take place Saturday, March 11, from 6-11 PM. About a dozen clubs will be participating. We'll have buses going from club to club, stopping about every 10-15 minutes. With your Caravan pass, you can start at any participating venue, stay as long or as little as you like, then board the bus to the next club. There are no minimums at any of the venues; buy food and drink, or not, as you choose. Any time you like, take the bus back to where you started. Details on specific clubs and bands will be available closer to the date of the Caravan. For more information please call Ken Borgers at 619-388-3301.
Kirk Hoffman Celebration of Life Jam

Kirk Hoffman was a drummer, a teacher, and loved by many. He passed away October 28, 2016. Many remembrances have been shared, but a Ceremony of Life Jam will be held Sunday the 20th from 4-8pm. Jazz 88.3 Blues Jam emcee J. Otis Williams will host the event at Proud Mary's, 5500 Kearny Mesa Rd, 92111. All are welcome. Quoting J Otis, "...Kirk could do it all...so bring it all."

One of the most exciting piano and vocal duets in jazz returns to San Diego TONIGHT for our Jazz Live. Acclaimed pianist Geoffrey Keezer and vocalist Gillian Margot will be gracing the Saville Theatre stage alongside the Kate Hatmaker String Quartet for a performance you don't want to miss. The show is SOLD OUT but you may have a shot to get in by claiming a ticket after 7:30pm the night of the show (at the box office). When you arrive for the show please use the parking pass.
