WHY SUPPORT KSDS?
Of course, it costs money for a radio station to operate. But, because we are licensed as a non-profit, non-commercial radio station, unlike commercial radio stations, traditional advertising revenue cannot be a source of the monies required. Instead, we must rely on listener support and corporate donations.
Businesses can contribute by underwriting a specific program, general programming, or a portion of the broadcast day. This provides an opportunity for us to thank them, on air, through a 20-second underwriting message that contains specified information about their business. This contribution is tax deductible and provides a wonderful and inexpensive opportunity to let many thousands of jazz lovers know about your business.

YOUR MESSAGE WILL REACH AN EXCLUSIVE AUDIENCE
KSDS covers the entire San Diego County. The KSDS audience, typical of public radio station audiences across the country, has some very attractive demographics. Our audience is more highly educated and more affluent than the population in general. Their interests lean more toward upscale activities such as boating, travel, theater, dining out, financial matters and business related-activities.
Additionally, non-commercial radio audiences genuinely appreciate those businesses that support their favorite station and, in this case, the only San Diego station that plays their music. After all, thousands of them have expressed their support through membership contributions.
BREAK THROUGH THE TYPICAL ADVERTISING CLUTTER
Public Radio is commercial clutter-free. We air only a few underwriting messages an hour and never more than two back-to-back. Our audience knows that music is only a minute or two away and that they can easily stay tuned during our brief stops. That means that your message comes through loud and clear, not buried in a group of four to six minute-long commercials, as is often the case in commercial radio. And because KSDS thanks you for your support, you're automatically getting an endorsement from the station the listener loves.
