I was a young sailor onboard the USS. Ticonderoga in San Diego in the early sixties where I got my first real taste of jazz. It was at a place called the Cross Roads, which, Please, don’t quote me, but I believe it was on Fifth and Market. The music was not live (Juke box) but I believe the only music played was jazz. It was also a place where both Buffalo Soldiers stationed in San Diego and Sailors would meet (slightly, before my time). Thanks to the Cross Roads for getting me started and Jazz88 for keeping it going.

Hello. I'm interested in helping with the fund drive. I heard there was someone on this site where one could choose different time slots but I can't locate it. I have helped (in the dim past) with KPBS phone drives but would need current training. I am available almost any time during the week. I can be reached at 858-926-6496. Linda Bottella
