There will be a change of venue for the last Jazz Live of this season. Tonight's presentation of The Four Freshmen will be held at The Handlery Hotel under the stars in their backyard garden. If you are an existing Jazz Live subscriber for this season (February-July 2024) you are guaranteed your 2 tickets. Please e-mail Chuck (chuck@jazz88.org) for any additional information or questions you may have and ask him about any add-ons that you may be interested in. There are tickets avaialbe for VIP and concert only. If you are NOT A CURRENT JAZZ LIVE SUBSCRIBER please read below. All attendess need to check in at the venue. There are NO hard tickets for this event.

We will be playing classic and rare recordings and offering insightful commentary throughout the day. You're not going to want to miss one minute of this special programming. Award-winning singer and club and restaurant owner, Leonard Patton has recently dealt with some online setbacks as his Facebook account was recently hacked. Check out his video on You Tube. It has really affected his business and he can use some help so please visit his establishment at 6818 El Cajon Blvd. and when visiting The Jazz Lounge Website you can use the code 'MAY2024' to attend any show for free (in May).

Jazz Live- April 24- A Shorty Rogers Celebration

For our next Jazz Live, KSDS will celebrate the centennial of a principal architect of west coast Jazz, Shorty Rogers. Join us THIS WEDNESDAY as we honor Shorty through live music and film. Music starts at 7:30 and Trumpeter Ron Stout and Reedman Jerry Pinter brings a terrific band that will play Shorty’s arrangements that will harken back to the golden age of west coast jazz. Before the music, we’ll begin the celebration with a special film screening at 6:30PM bringing never before seen footage from this foundational era of West Coast music.

The First Presbyterian Church of San Diego is announcing a TRIBUTE TO JOHN COLTRANE courtesy of the Jazz Vespers, featuring special guest saxophonist, Mark Lessman.


The event will be held Saturday , March 30, 2024 at 4:30pm in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church of San Diego. 1740 4th Ave.
Led by Archie Thompson and The ArchTones, Jazz Vespers is San Diego’s longest running jazz-inspired worship service, and takes place in the First Presbyterian Chapel every Sunday.

Idyllwild Arts is accepting enrollment for the Jazz In The Pines Student Clinic happening June 30th - July 13th. This two-week session is built around the return of Jazz In The Pines, giving students an exciting opportunity to learn from and see performances form Jazz greats in an intimate festival environment, a truly unique experience not offered at other camps. In 1963, John Coltrane met a pianist from Detroit named Alice McLeod in New York City. At Birdland. She was playing vibes and piano in Terry Gibbs’s band, which was splitting a double-bill with Coltrane’s quartet, and they fell in love.
