Holly Hofmann's new jazz series continues this month at Tio Leo's Restaurant and Lounge at 5302 Napa St. at Morena Blvd. Jazz at Tio Leo's is happening every Sunday evening from 5-7pm and features Southern California's finest jazz musicians in a quiet, spacious setting with full bar and Mexican cuisine. There is also plenty of free parking. See this month's schedule below:

FEBRUARY

Feb 5th: Saxman Christopher Hollyday has put together an all-star group to honor early West Coast Jazz era, featuring music of Stan Getz, Art Pepper, Gerry Mulligan and many more. With Matt Hall, trombone, John Opferkuch, piano, Rob Thorsen, bass and Tyler Kreutel, drums.

Feb 12: The Young Lion's Jazz Conservatory's Adult Classes in concert! Many of you have been inquiring about digging into jazz again after having played earlier in life, or having a young musician in the kid's classes at the Conservatory. They have worked hard, they sound so good, they've chosen great tunes, and I want you to hear them!

Feb 19: In town for one night, guitarist Bruce Forman is back!  And he's bringing Barney Kessel's guitar back home to San Diego! Don't miss one of the swingin' superstars of the jazz world. Rob Thorsen, bass and Duncan Moore, drums.

Feb 26: San Diego favorite, pianist Mikan Zlatkovich will present a tribute to the great pianists, Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal, among others. He's featuring Tripp Sprague on sax and flute, Ben Wanicur on bass, and drummer Richard Sellers.

MARCH

March 5th: Guitarist Louie Valenzuela with vibist Matt DiBiase and drummer Fernando Gomez, playing a tribute to 
legendary guitarist Wes Montgomery.

March 12th: Bassist Rob Thorsen Trio when he presents his program My Favorite Bassists, featuring the music of bass legends Ray Brown, Ron Carter and more. Special guest with the trio, tenor man Nick Caldwell.

March 19th: Dr. Marshall Hawkins presenting a concert honoring San Diego tenor sax giant Daniel Jackson, who was given a Mayoral day of celebration in 2011. The concert features Charlie Owens, Mike Wofford Joshua White, Bob Boss and many more.
