A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to The New Soil Ensemble! They are the next generation of Jazz and live and play right here IN SAN DIEGO! They made the cover of DOWNBEAT magazine (43rd Student Awards Issue). They are part of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory led by Gilbert Castellanos. All of these young artists were on our Jazz Live San Diego stage back in January 2020 as part of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory Big Band concert. We are so proud.

Jazz Live will be celebrating Women's History Month TONIGHT with vocalist Staci Griesbach as she presents "My Patsy Cline Songbook" featuring contemporary jazz arrangements of country music icon Patsy Cline’s biggest hits including "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces" and her first national hit "Walkin’ After Midnight," in which ROLLING STONE called Griesbach’s single “a gorgeous jazz interpretation.” Sprinkled with nods to the Great American Songbook, Griesbach's performance draws audiences in with charm and charisma presenting these recognizable classics that defy genre. Accompanying Staci will be pianist Tamir Hendelman and acclaimed reedman Bob Sheppard his trio. For this concert we are inviting the entire publc (regardless of Jazz 88 membership status) to celebrate Women's History Month. But, we still encourage you make your reservations in the Speakeasy. Jazz Live will welcome back Alto Saxophonist Christopher Hollyday and his Telepathy band to the Saville Theatre TONIGHT at 8pm. His band will be stellar- Gilbert Castellanos on Trumpet, Joshua White on Piano, Rob Thorsen on Bass and Tyler Kreutel on Drums. This concert will be the album release of 'Dialogue' AND Christopher's 50th Birthday so it's not to be missed. The show is SOLD OUT, but the broadcast starts at 8pm.  The box office will open at 6pm and unclaimed tickets will be available beginning at 730pm. As always, thanks to Big Front Door Sandwich Shop, located in University Heights (Park Blvd.) for providing food for the Jazz Live artists. Sinatra at the Sands Fundraising Concert

TONIIGHT AT 7:30PM is your chance to relive one of the most celebrated concerts ever to be recorded. Sinatra at the Sands. Esteemed Drummer and Conductor Michael Berkowitz will be leading the KSDS Jazz Orchestra for a night you will not forget as he and the band will be playing the original arrangements from this famous engagement. Singer, Ned Rifken, one of the foremost Sinatra-styled vocalists, is billed as the “Ambassador of Swing” and he will transport you back in time with his interpretations of these Sinatra-Basie classics. The show is SOLD OUT! The box office opens at 6pm. Doors open at 7PM. All tickets can be claimed at will call. Here is the parking pass (FREE PARKING) for the concert. You can park anywhere on campus with the pass but Lot 8 is closest to the theatre which is located on C street across from 14th street. Here is a map.

TONIGHT at 8pm will be a concert for the ages and a one-time only KSDS Fundraising Event. The Cookers come to the Saville Theatre! This is truly a band of Modern Jazz Heavyweights- Billy Harper (ts), Cecil McBee (b), George Cables (p), Eddie Henderson (tpt), Donald Harrison (as), David Weiss (tpt), Billy Hart (d). The concert will be at the Saville Theatre here at City College. FREE PARKING (no pass required). The concert is SOLD OUT.
